Explore Windsor Castle, Berkshire, London

Image
In 2020-2021,  one of my team mate was living at Slough. I managed to spend the xmas break of 2020 at his place. Due to Covid, we kept it light and explored the neighbourhood during the day and cooked in the evening, watched some movies in Netflix and dozed off.  Some of my interesting observations of the gorgeous neighbourhood of Windsor are: A. There is no issue of buying Asian groceries at Slough neighbourhood.  B. It feels closer to Heathrow but it is not really close. You need to commute in some circular way. C. There are some cafes around Windsor castle and they serve good snacks.  D. I was pleasantly surprised by the Dorney Lake (https://www.dorneylake.co.uk/seasonal-grounds-visiting). The place is magnificient, beautiful, got a small cafe. Plenty of family people visit here as well. You can do a rectangular walk and return to parking spot (around 6km) E. If you follow rowing events, check out the calendar before your visit. Eton wick is nearby and if you can ...

Bishop's Park, Fulham

Image
Bishop's Park is located at Fulham, near Putney Bridge train station of District Line. It has a great location due to Thames riverside or waterfront. Lovely tall trees decorate the banks of the river. Such a delight to see this from the opposite side.  On one side of the river, there are plenty of garages for Boats., mostly from colleges. Putney Pier is also located here and can commute all the way to London.  On the other side of the river, you get to see Bishop's Park and Fulham Football Club.  Bishiop's park is long and rectangular and got plenty of places to picnic or sit and relax by the riverside. Ice cream shops, Fish and Chips, Donna's coffee shop, couple of pubs are all situated around. Do take a stroll in the weekend ! Stay safe.

my first snow experience - Buxton, UK

Image
I was brought down in Chennai, Tamil Nadu where the only season is Summer. There is a bit of dew in Dec/Jan ... but it is mainly hot, hotter and hottest days over there !!! I was looking forward for the heavy winter when I worked at Manchester in 2011/2012.  But I had to take a train to Buxton to feel and enjoy the snow in Feb 2012.  Snow level was decent and I fell in love with the white cover as soon as I stepped out of rail station. I bought a hot coffee and started exploring by foot. Best part of the experience for me was the slippery feeling I had when I was walking over the snow & I definitely slipped down once ! But I ended up enjoying the little pain although.  I also found it difficult to adjust the sun against the white sand / snow... I got some help from my cool shades (sun glass) although.  Why I remembered to write about this is I live in Singapore now and I don't even need to pack my clothes when I go Bali or Ban...

Martin Mere wetland, Lancashire

Image
I visited Martin Mere Wetland reserve at Lancashire in 2011. I fondly remembered the large land and walking aroud while I was scanning through old pictures and decided to write about it. Pls plan your visit -->  https://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/martin-mere/plan-your-visit/ I vividly remember the nice spaces created for photographers and it was awesome to setup tripod and tracking the birds. I also recollect the cute, active  Grey crowned Crane and it was very nice to see it running here and there and never stopping. More than hundreds of birds are there inside wet lands and season details are nicely detailed out in the portal. Enjoy and support nature.

Jersey, Channel Islands

Image
There is a small little island called Jersey known as Channel Islands and it is also known as St. Helier.  It was a normal island which was used for leisure activities till 80s and UK Government polished it and made it as tax haven. Beauty of the town is its fabulous coast and the great sound of ocean waves anywhere you roam. I am lucky to visit the place in 2012 and I share some of my favourite thoughts about this place. Jersey city centre is fairly small and located behind Liberty House and the Hotel Pomme D'Or. New Street has some offices and some retail shops; the place is filled with lot of restaurents too. It is always nice to walk from Liberty House to Grand Jersey. Fabulous harbour is located across the road and provides superb view of Elizabeth Castle too. How can I ever forget the elaborate breakfast ofered at these hotels !! I used to like and stay at a quiet hotel called Norfolk ... just for the fabulous food I get there ! Norfolk used to arrange some live...
