Singapore, where to eat, drink and host

I will take a different take on where to eat, drink and host your friends or relatives .... SG has plenty of hang out places and serve good drink. Market is dominated by some local beer Tiger and other imported beers such as Guinness, Asahi and others. 

Why do you make social events? 

  • To have a drink after a tough work day? 
  • To celebrate some good things happening with your colleagues or friends?
  • To host your friends and relatives who are visiting SG? 
that means, you also need decent food to taste ! Hence, I will list down some good places to have nice food and some drink !!! They are not ranked in any order, but covers all sides of Singapore Island.

1) BluJaz , Bugis: Located at the commercial hub, they serve Italian food & Indian food. There is live music from 8pm. Pls get inside the pub or get the window seat behind the Live music gallery else you can't listen !! It is normally a crowded place during Fri and Sat. Do reserve and go. 



2)  Barrels, 34 South Buona Vista Rd, Singapore 118162. This is a sports bar, serves excellent beer and other cocktails. There is a snooker table as well. They serve Indian food and Pizza. This place is frequented by ExPats and situated in a neighbourhood. Seating is available both inside and outside. 

3) Druggist , Tyrwhitt Road, Lavendar : Got some excellent craft beers and Burgers & Pizzas to eat. 

Bonus: You can also taste or takeaway The Tiramisu Hero @ 121 Tyrwhitt Road. 

4) Red Dot Brewhouse, Dempsey Hill: The special beer here is Monster Green Lager among many. They also serve good charcoal, grill food as well. Outdoor space is pet friendly. 


5) Employees Only, Amoy Street: Pls reserve and visit here. This is a premium place. Oysters and Mozzarella Balls are good here alongwith Cocktails. They conduct some special events from time to time and they play excellent music as well. 



 6) SKAI Bar: This has night view of Singapore downtown. There is a bar on one side and othe other side got restaurant. Pls choose based on your guest interest. Food is decent, view is brilliant.

Lavo Singapore (MBS, Bayfront) : This place is fairly new and serves excellent Italian food and drinks. (Premium Place). An ideal place to treat your customers !!!


8) The Penny Black, Boat Quay: British pub, excellent food / curry with common beers and other drinks. 

9. Boomarang , Robertson Quay is also a sports bar to watch various matches and catch up with friends over a beer. Surprise: They also open early for breakfast !! Outdoor space is pet friendly. 

10.  Little Island ( Little ) Brew is located at Changi village road is a large place and a great place to hangout. They serve typical food such as fish and chips, Charcoal, Port and Beef. Food is good and it is open / outdoor place. Outdoor space is pet friendly. 

11. SIA sports hub is a hidden gem. There is bar (Tipsy Cow) on one side and other the side has got some fabulous food (Savour). You can also call up and reserve for some sporting actitivies here. Long time ago, this place was used as practice ground for airline food / cooking. Not sure about it now. But this place offers dependeble food of Indian, Chinese and fusion. 





12. FICO at East Coast Park (FICO ) : Pls reserve or call up and go here. Extremely popular restaurant of east coast and frequented by many. Served good Italian food and plenty of wine. 

13. Burmal Social ( Burma ) serves plenty of Wok / fried food, thai food in burmese style & Dim Sum. Excellent place and got plenty of wine options here.  

14. Singapore Polo Club has got one paddock bistro which serves typucal local food with good quality and fine dining restaurant ( Coriander Leaf ) . This is very peaceful, with huge open space view of the Polo ground. I love this place when I bring guests from outside. Paddock is pet friendly as well. 




15. Selator (Summerhouse) location has got The Summerhouse. Perfect place to conduct event and go with Friends and Family for food. Serves excellent fusion food.

Saunderton, Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire

 Do walk around Saunderton, Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire .... superb landscape !!! You need to take trains from Marylebone station, Central London to Saunderton. Saunderton railway station is a railway station on the A4010 road between High Wycombe and Princes Risborough. Loads of green surface, up and down hills and it is a delightful nature walk. I did the walk during Autumn and loved every bit of colours and lucky to see Rainbow as well.  There is also Hellfire Caves (https://www.hellfirecaves.co.uk/gallery) and cafe for public. Do explore spending some time if you are going as a group.  From Saunderton the route took us to nearby Bradenham, and enjoyed some refreshments at the village church on the green. Dashwood Mausoleum is on top of hills, West Wycombe and it is walkable from Hellfire caves. It is not open and one can walk around and enjoy the town view. Effective Roaming of Singapore in 8 hours for Transit tourists

I would like to suggest an ideal itinerary to carry out effective roaming in Singapore within 8 hours of transit time !!! Keen to explore, Here I go: Ideal Breakfast:  Little India : South India food like Dosa or Idly Or Puri at Komalas Restaurant or Madura Vilas Restaurant (near Little India MRT).  I like Pongal from the oldest restaurant called Komalas at Serangoon Road.  MTR restaurant is near Farrer Park MRT and it is Karnataka food and they serve excellent Masala Dosa and Uddin Vada as well.  Do get a glimpse of Srinivasa Perumal temple around MTR (dress code is needed);  Former house of Tan Teng Niah is bright and colourful as well and it is a great spot of Selfie (near Little India MRT). Allotted time is 1 hour if you go little India.
